Game developer Level-5 has announced they will showcase their returning and new titles for Vision 2024. Their animation branch will show a preview of their two Inazuma Eleven animated films. The second film features the animated prologue of the sequel’s protagonist, Unmei Sasanami.
Retelling the Anime
The first movie, Inazuma Eleven: Legendary Kickoff is a compilation of the game’s anime. Level-5’s soccer RPG aired three seasons in correlation with the game’s trilogy. The story follows a young soccer captain named Mamoru Endo. He follows his grandfather’s footsteps and trains to become the world’s best soccer player. In doing so, he wanted to revive Raimon Middle’s soccer team after being disbanded for years.
Mamoru soon learns why many past players retired due to the Soccer Arts (Hissatsu). Raimon’s rival, Teikoku Gaikuen possesses these powers as their reputation is built around destroying stadiums. With the help of Gouenji Tsukikage, Teikoku Gaikuen’s rival player, he helps train the team to master their techniques. They train and battle opponents while rising to face their rivals in the National Cup. They would soon be seen as the Hopeful Eleven or Inazuma Eleven.
The Sequel’s Prologue
The upcoming sequel, Inazuma Eleven: The New Heroes’ Prologue will feature the series’ new protagonist, Unmei. Level-5 has not given much detail on the character’s backstory. The trailer does leave enough clues for the Inazuma Eleven community to piece together. Unmei was a former soccer player from his previous school. On one unfortunate match, he lost a friend as he kneeled to the stadium ground wounded. He swore to never play soccer again.
He transfers to Nagamoru Junior High and immediately on his first day, Unmei stumbles upon trouble. A group of bullies attempted to harm him with a bottle until Joji Sakurazaki came to his rescue. Inazuma Eleven: The New Heroes’ Prologue will also feature Mamoru’s and Gouenji’s grandson. Haru Endo, or the soccer monster, has taken the offense position rather than the goalie. Ren Tsukikage on the official Level-5 Inazuma Eleven website is seen as a calm player.
Who’s Producing the Films?
Level-5 has hired animation studios MAPPA and OLM. OLM is responsible for the original Inazuma Eleven anime and the cutscenes from the original Nintendo DS series. They will be in charge of recompiling and editing scenes for the first film. Meanwhile, MAPPA will handle the Inazuma Eleven: The New Heroes’ Prologue. Using their stunning action choreography from shows such as Jujutsu Kaisen, the Soccer Arts will feel more alive. The studio will also be involved with Victory Road’s in-game cutscenes.
Level-5 director Akihiro Hino will be supervising both projects to ensure these films are of their best quality. There is no confirmed release date for other countries. Legendary Kickoff and The New Heroes’ Prologue will be released on December 27th, 2024.
